A visual identity I've designed for RPMM Festival, an electronic music festival based in Porto, Portugal. The brief I was given had a core focus on the "azulejo" tiles, typical wall decorations of Porto's art tradition. The big challenge here was blending a visual history extremely distant from the contemporary music graphics. My idea was transforming the core design of these tiles into artist frames: the combination of artist tiles would then recreate the azulejo grid in both printed billboards and Instagram. I opted for a Mediterranean colour scheme and I introduced a computer-based typeface like OCR A STD: this choice created a bond with the electronic music culture, while producing a stark contrast with these decorative and historical designs.
